Buying It Used in the 17 Plaza Shopping Center is accepting gently used items (except clothing) and donating a portion of the proceeds to the Giving Garden Foundation if you mention our name! They have donated over $50.00 in the past two months.
Old Dominion Recycling on 1618 W Pembroke Avenue in Hampton has recently added us to their list of Charitable Organizations. Take any recyclable material to ODR; tell them you are recycling for the Giving Garden Foundation and they can designate all or a portion of your proceeds to our foundation. ODR is a great place to take your scrap metal, old appliances, etc.
Are you a Prostate Cancer patient or caregiver? Join the "Man to Man" support group which meets at the Gloucester Library at 6:30PM on the 2nd Monday of every month.
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: As of November 2012 TGGF has provided over $22,000 in financial assistance to local cancer patients.
RECYCLING: Through tremendous community support, we've recycled more than 300,000 aluminum cans through our "Together we CAN advocate" recycling program. We're averaging $400 per month in revenue! If you would like to help with our recycling efforts please email kgarner@thegivinggarden.org or mwamsley@thegivinggarden.org. Students who would like volunteer hours are more than welcome to participate! Whether it is one hour a month or more any help is greatly appreciated. Don't forget we are collecting cans at the three locations: Abingdon Ruritan Club Can Cottage in Hayes, Main Street Shopping Center Can Cottage in the Courthouse, and the Mathews High School Can Cottage in Mathews.
